Global India - Summer 2008

Students from all majors are invited to spend six weeks in India this summer. The program will begin with a four day tour through Delhi, Agra (Taj Mahal) and Jaipur. The group will then fly to Bangalore where they will live and take classes at the International Center for Management and India Studies (ICMIS). Weekend excursions will be arranged to local historical sites as well as trips to Mysore and Kerala.

University of Arkansas faculty will lead a three hour course on Globalization in the Silicon Valley of India. No pre-requisites are necessary. This course will focus on technological innovations that have enabled globalization and a new paradigm for the international workplace through the integration of science, engineering and business. Course activities will include guest lectures and visits to local companies, videoconferencing with experts around the globe, and a service learning experience. Students will select from two humanities courses focused on Indian culture, religion, or history for an additional three credit hours.
