Students will enroll for two of the three courses listed below:

Textbook: The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman

Globalization and Innovation (GNEG 3103, 4103, 5103 based on student standing)

Culture and Civilization: Field Study in India (FLAN 423V)

The College of Engineering at the University of Arkansas is offering this new opportunity to educate students interested in learning more about the international 365/24/7 workplace and the integration of science, engineering and business disciplines in the modern globalized economy of India. In addition, students will gain a better understanding of the engineering innovations that enabled globalization and the new paradigm in the globalized ("flat world") engineering profession. The course will arm students with the information and tools to manage organizational value chains spanning national boundaries. Particular focus will be on conducting business with India from internal and external points of view, specifically focusing on the impact on urban and rural India.

Course activities will include multiple guest lecturers from Indian companies and academic organizations, videoconferencing with experts around the globe, field studies and a service learning experience. This program is primarily designed for junior and senior honors undergraduates and graduates from all colleges.
