Analytical Lab Renovation
March 1st, 2011: Work has begun on converting the lab formerly occupied by the Arkansas Analytical Lab (ENRC-353) for use by HiDEC. Expansion into the ENRC-353 space will allow the consolidation of lapping/grinding/polishing tools into one location, as well as a much-needed expansion of reliability capabilities. Capabilities that will be housed in the new area include:
- Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM)
- The cross-section inspection scope (with digital image capture)
- Gold sputterer for SEM sample preparation
- The Beuhler grinding/polishing tool
- The Logitech lapping/polishing tool
- Various ovens for thermal cycling
Relocating these tools will also allow the Assembly and Synth labs to maintain a more clean environment and put the freed space to better use.
Renovation efforts are expected to take another 2-3 months; however, the SAM and cross-section microscope have already been relocated and are available for use. Please contact Michael Glover mglover@uark.edu to gain access to these tools.
