Preping for Expo

You will not be able to visit every company at Expo.  So, you will need to create a prioritized list of companies attending.

After you have your list, you will need to gather information on the company.

Do they have positions posted in eRecruiting?  If they do have an understanding of what the company is looking for so you can talk about how you fill those needs.

Go to the company website. – What are there core businesses, products, or services?  Find the annual stockholders report, and read the letter from the president.  It will only be a couple of pages, but it will give you tremendous insight to the company’s priorities in the coming years.

Dress appropriately!!!

Bring copies of your resume on a quality white or off-white paper. (resume guidelines)

Create a 30 introduction.

DON’T take give-a-ways unless offered.  You are not there for a 50 cent stress relief toy!  You are there to make a positive impression and land a job interview.

Close the Deal – many companies will be interviewing the next day or latter in the semester.  Ask how you can get on their schedule.
