Once you have arrived at the University of Arkansas, the College of Engineering will assign you an advisor based on your major and if you are in the Honors College. Having our faculty also serve as advisors enables us to have a closer relationship with our students, and helps our students receive individual attention. Before registering for classes each semester, our students must meet with their advisors to go over what classes they plan on taking, and their overall academic plan. However, this should not be the only time students meet with their advisors. Advisors can provide much of the following:
- Help with questions about major and curricular requirements.
- Discuss future employment opportunities and career paths.
- Monitor and discuss a student's academic progress on a regular basis.
- Help refer students to the appropriate resources that can help - such as tutoring and labs.
- Discuss options with students who are having second thoughts about their major or Engineering in general.
- Help identify organizations and activities on campus that reflect the student's interests.
Advisors are a key part of helping a student through their career in college and the College of Engineering hopes that their faculty will meet every expectation at assisting our students.
